The Beautiful Day: CD of the week

Our CD of the week is a tasty, jazzy holiday offering from vocalist Kurt Elling, with fine jazz support from his compatriots. The Beautiful Day: Kurt Elling Sings Christmas is a thoughtful, wonderfully arranged collection of new and old Christmas material — from “Sing a Christmas Carol” to a particularly swinging “Little Drummer Boy.”
The album does the difficult but essential step for a successful new entry in the crowded Yuletide field — it makes the material and the sentiments seem fresh and personal.

Quite frankly, it's my favorite new album for the 2016 season.
