Kurt Elling Joins The Cast Of Broadway’s Hadestown

The Tony Award-winning Best Musical Hadestown will welcome an entirely new principal cast to Broadway’s Walter Kerr Theatre September 2.

Joining the long-running hit will be Disney star Morgan Dudley (Descendants: The Rise of Red), who made her Broadway debut in Jagged Little Pill, as Eurydice; two-time Grammy-winning jazz vocalist Kurt Elling in his Broadway debut as Hermes; Broadway favorite Rebecca Naomi Jones (Stereophonic, Oklahoma!, Passing Strange) as Persephone; South Pacific Tony winner Paulo Szot, last on Broadway in & Juliet, as Hades; and West End Next to Normal breakout star Jack Wolfe, whose screen credits include Shadow and Bone and The Witcher, in his Broadway debut as Orpheus. (Wolfe will not perform in HadestownSeptember 9–21.)

Jeffrey Cornelius and Ayla Ciccone-Burton will also join the company September 2.

Hadestown currently stars Ali Louis Bourzgui as Orpheus, Phillip Boykin as Hades, Daniel Breaker as Hermes, Lana Gordon as Persephone, and Myra Molloy as Eurydice, who will all take their final bows August 31.

They Broadway company also features Marla Louissaint, Jessie Shelton, and Kay Trinidad as the Fates with the Chorus of Workers played by Emily Afton, Malcolm Armwood, Timothy H. Lee, Sydney Parra, and Alex Puette. The cast also includes swings Brandon Cameron, KC Dela Cruz, Max Kumangai, Alex Lugo, and Tanner Ray Wilson.

Casting is by Whitley Theatrical.

Hadestown is currently in its sixth year on Broadway and in its second year in the West End (the musical returned to London six years after its 2018 engagement at the National Theatre). The record-breaking North American tour has just completed its three-year run, and productions recently opened across the globe in Sydney, Melbourne, and Amsterdam.
