Hello everyone! I'm happy to be here and say that I'm a huge KE fan! Nice to meet you all.
Kurt, I saw you at the Sunken Garden Poetry Festival some time ago in Farmington, Ct and then again in Northhampton MA at the Iron Horse. Both were intimate, spectacular shows.
I'm a painter and textile designer ...lover of jazz, art, science and nature.

JEEZ...how amazing it feels to be here!
I didn't get to experience life in the time of the Buddha, Jesus, or other great Avatars....
...but thank GOD Kurt Elling showed up in this life!
Thank you for the exquisite music I play over AND OVER again my truck to and fro.
Peace.

I just had to hear Kurt in person and it didn't seem like he made his way down to Arkansas much, so I organized at concert at my college. The KE quartet performed at Grinnell College on April 12th 2007 and it was an amazing concert. I look forward to hearing him more often now that I live in NYC. That's it for now. _________________ Alvin |

That was a fantastic show and a wild success! The Chapel was filled and EVERYONE was into it! The best part was that you brought such a fantastic show to central Iowa and had the school take care of the cost for everyone, making it accessible to many students, elderly and farmers who otherwise may not have been able to attend. Well, okay, the best part was the performance, but it was still really good of you.
Glad to hear from you. Now that you're out in NY you're closer to Laurence's new stomping grounds, so look for his gigs too.

Hey its me, Alexander Andrew Medina Angelo Andrew Martinez
Or just call me Hiroki or Andy
I am an artist, a musician, and a Kurt Elling fan.
I have been a fan of his for a while now. My dad got me into him, and it took me a while to lach on, but when I did, waoh.
I am interested in anime, computers, and randomness.
I am bipolar and an anime fan.
I have seen kurt elling on two diffrent days, and after the first day, hes a man I can never forget.
Oh right I forgot, I live in the DC, no not washington, Daily City,
The place of the steamed rice and a healthy asian population.
I First saw him in the monteray jazz festival, and the second time was down in yoshi's, Eating my fill of both sushi and jazz!(Glutony is one of the audiences most famous sins, and trust me- Kurt Elling is filling!)
I am very in to art, spirituality, and randomness.
I generally like trying to be a good person.
I say I'm a guitarist moreso than a musician, because I play guitar alot, but any instrument I can get my hands on keeps me happy. (With that said, I know how to use my hands to make a fairly good flute- learned in 3 hours(however speed of learning is not representative of how great I am, so I'm still learning))
For all you Native Americans out there, My totem is a Hyena. And I show it off too!
As a final note- I tend to blab alot! _________________ Words can be very very strong...

Hello all,
This is a great forum celebrating one of the world's finest vocalists. My name is E. Dean Sahutske, Executive Producer of Detroit JazzStage. I wanted to let everyone know that we've posted an interview of Kurt recorded at the Detroit International Jazz Festival's Jazz Talk Tent hosted by radio host/musician Tony Mowod.
You can find the interview here.
Enjoy! _________________ JazzStage Productions

Anders from Norway here.
First discovered Kurt through a great review in Mojo last year. Since I`m a big big Frank Sinatra fan I`m always on the lookout for great jazz vocalist. I thought that Kurt sounded interesting so I went and bought Nightmoves. I was blown away, my god how brilliant he is. Now, a year later I own every album and he`s one of my absolute favorite artists.
Can`t wait for a new cd! _________________ We where but stones, your light made us stars - Eddie Vedder |

Hey all.
My name is Joshua Cossette. I live all the way down in South Florida. I've seen Kurt twice, once at the Miniaci Center and the other at Arturo Sandoval's Jazz Club. I got to speak to him for a couple minutes and it was amazing at both nights.
I've been a Kurt fan for about a year now and just listening to him inspires me in my jazz music. Thanks for the music Kurt and I look foward to seeing you again down here in Florida. _________________ Jazz is one of those types of music that people will never understand fully. Hello!
I'm a KE fan from Melbourne in my final year of a BMus in Jazz (singer) and so incredibly excited to be attending the gig at the Regent Theatre tonight (5th row!!). First saw/learnt of Kurt in high school when a musical mentor took me along to a workshop he conducted at a nearby University, and the first song I heard was 'the beauty in all things'... It was love at first sound...you all know what I mean.
Adore Nightmoves, on serious replay weekly. My boyfriend thinks i must be seeing someone else, the amount I talk about/listen to KE...!
Really enjoy reading the forums and hope to contriubute to them now i'm officially signed up. |

Hi there,
my name is Andre and I'm a brazilian admirer of KE and LH for about 8 years now.
I discovered them by doing a research out of curiosity of singers who recorded 'Nature Boy' on a CD site. They always had a few seconds of some of the tracks for sample listening and when I heard Kurt's a cappella intro I knew I had found something unique. I researched him on the net and found a online stream of a show (no idea where it was). I remember that it took more than four hours for the internet connection to buffer the whole concert (in 1999 I only had dial-up), but that's when I found out about his 'live' side. Since then I have tried to get their albums which I have access to here in Brazil, sometimes even having friends send me the CDs from the States. At the moment I don't have the 'Live in Chicago' nor the 'Outtakes' or the last one, 'Nightmoves', though I've had the opportunity of listening to them.
I'm a pastor and theologian and a semi-professinal arranger and composer (which means I don't depend on it financially, which gives me the privilege of being picky).
I haven't had the chance of listening to them 'live' yet, but I do hope that they'll be coming to Brazil soon. |
